PARIS IN MAFIA WARS
Facebook Mafia Wars launched the anticipated Challenge Mission: Paris chapter in which you need to steal the Mona Lisa. The breakdown is that the Feds have their eyes on you so something has to change - your mafia family specifically and in order to do that you need some faces they aren’t familiar with. This is a genius way to get you to recruit a new player or use up some Godfather Points to recruit ten new members just so you can even take a shot at this new job. Thanks for putting the screws to everyone with that one Zynga - everyone loves bugging their friends to play or burning up - or worse buying Godfather Points.
Once you get through that piece of pre-qualifying tedium it is on with the job. Your first screen as you get ready to do the job will read:
"You've been hired to steal the Mona Lisa! A wealthy art collector wants to add the Mona Lisa to his collection, and has tasked you with “acquiring” it. Each chapter, you'll be given 3 new jobs to master, each with an exclusive unique item reward should you complete all the jobs. These jobs will require a special item, Parisian Maps, to complete. You can get these from this Challenge Mission page every day, as well as through doing jobs, fighting and robbing in other cities."
At this point you have to collect 5 maps to do the job. Let your mafia know you've accepted the challenge - time is a factor because this is a limited time gig. Once you've done that, you will notice that it now says "5 Parisian maps owned" and there will be a timer counting down 24 hours until you get your next set of maps. If you click on the question mark next to where it tells you how many maps you own you will get the following popup message:
"To complete the jobs in Challenge Mission: Paris, you'll need to use special Paris Maps to do the jobs. Each day, you'll be able to collect these maps from the Challenge Mission page, obtain them from the Marketplace, as well as finding them from doing jobs, fighting and robbing in other cities. Make sure you save them up, as you'll need more as the mission progresses!"
You'll also notice the master timer which tells you how long you have to complete the whole job, not just each stage. At the time of this writing, it was 24 days and 3 hours. Here is where you get screwed a little - you cannot blow through this job in a sitting. There are three stages, and each stage is on a timer. You have to wait for the timer to hit zero, then the next stage will unlock. if you work through a stage too quickly the heat catches on and the job becomes harder to do. If you go too slow you nay not finish it in time. There were also four items that you can pick up in Paris and they are as follows as described by the popup.
"Each Chapter that you complete of Challenge Mission: Paris will earn you an exclusive unique item. You'll need to master Chapter 1 before you can move on to Chapter 2, and so forth. Each item gets progressively more powerful, so you'll have to work hard to ensure that you get them all!"
Chapter 1: Parisian Fixer, ATK 30 DEF 61
Chapter 2: French Kiss, ATK 75 DEF 45
Chapter 3: DaVinci Q415, ATK 63 DEF 103
Parisian Map
0 Attack, 0 Defense
The map is not really a swag item, but you're going to need them all to make the job as easy as possible, so logging in every 24 hours to get them will be a huge deal. The only thing anyone can say beyond this right now is that Chapter 1 unlocks in 2 days approximately - whether that is 2 days from the time you get your maps, or just 2 days from the 4/23/10 launch is still up in the air. Chapter 3 unlocks 8 days after chapter 1, and chapter 3 unlocks 7 days after chapter 2. That leaves you 1 week to complete the job if you are on time at every stage.
